PANTHEON 5.5 – Upgrading from the Previous Version

Upgrading to PANTHEON 5.5 (P55) is not a mere trivial task since the upgrade is designed to fix a great amount of data. Besides this there are also reports that were changed and let us not forget that the existing SQL-I procedures have to be transferred to ARES.

If you are to attempt upgrading it yourself, the program shall return a message: "Upgrade blocked, please contact your local DataLab's partner." We designed this security mechanism so as to prevent the systems from upgrading to the new version since this could lead to errors in business operations due to incongruities in SQL-I procedures. Our partners can unlock any specific serial ID number, so that the transition is monitored and efficiency kept on a high level.

If you want to upgrade it yourselves, please contact us using the e-mail address info[@]datalab.si so that we remove the block.

Users with more modifications in SQL-I or vertical solutions that work with PANTHEON, should before the actual upgrading determine deadlines in cooperation with partners.

Upgrade Progress

Download file dlMigration55.zip from web server ftp.datalab.si/programi and unpack it. In the archive you can find the executable file dlMigration55.exe.  The version upgrade cannot be accessed using the typical PANTHEON upgrade module in the Administration Panel. Upgrades of the upcoming P55 builds will, however, be there.

After you run the upgrade you have to enter information on data server and user name together with a password. You can log onto one database only, and in the following step you can specify all to which you will have access enabled. By using the migrator you can in one step migrate any number of databases. In case of multiple databases you have to take special care so that you log in the existing PANTHEON50 database and not in the already migrated PANTHEON55 database, for in the opposite case you will not have all databases available for migration.

In this step you define the paths for upgrades  (the default paths used are those that you normally use in upgrading) and databases that you want to upgrade. You simply just mark the ones that you have prepared for upgrade. There is also a "Backup Copy" checkbox available that helps you make a backup copy of the old version of the database before the actual transition to the new program version. If you do not have global solutions for backup copies(e.g. on a server), it is mandatory for you to switch on this option. You have to save backup copies of the database to a secure location before migrating!

By deselecting the "Transfer of updates from server" option the migrator shall by itself make sure that necessary structures together with the file, which is needed for migration of user reports - dlMigration55ReportRepl.zip, shall be read from server. In this way migration procedure is made completely automatic and no additional actions by users are required.

By pressing the "Migraction" button you launch the migration procedure. According to the size of database and capacity of your computer this procedure can take some time. The progress of upgrade that shall be saved on the disc in the "Updates" folder where you can view it later, shall be displayed during the migration procedure. In the progress report you can observe which orphans (e.g. clerk of the invoice that cannot be found in the Subjects register) have been found and added.

It is recommended that you manually sort orphans found by the migrator – either combine them with an existent ID or add to them all the necessary data!

Migrator shall also fix all of the reports – including user reports – with new tables and a new XML format. If an error shall occur during conversion that cannot be removed, it shall display the report ID together with the error description. Such reports have to be manually edited and fixed after the migration has taken place (only if you are still using them).
